At the dental office of Joel R. Koch, DDS, we understand the importance of excellent emergency dental care. When you experience an emergency, you are at your most vulnerable and probably feel nervous or scared, and we want to support you and get you the care you need as quickly as possible. We never want our patients to fear a dental emergency, and there's no need to when they know we're here to help.

If you experience a dental emergency, we recommend that you call us immediately for assistance. We want to relieve any pain you’re experiencing as fast as we can, so we often provide same-day emergency care to patients. Of course, whether or not you need immediate care will depend on your specific emergency. We will help you evaluate your situation over the phone, so we recommend that you give us a call, even if you don’t think your emergency is urgent.

What if My Dental Emergency Occurs After Business Hours?

Don’t worry! We are still here to help. We realize that it’s impossible to know when you will experience a dental emergency. They don’t occur according to our schedule or yours! If your emergency occurs after hours, please call our regular office phone number. Our after-hours message service will get a message to us so we can give you a call back to arrange treatment as soon as possible.

In addition to arranging your emergency treatment, we can provide instructions for proper care of your situation until you reach our dental office.

When Should I Go to the Emergency Room Instead?

There are some situations where visiting the emergency room is more appropriate than seeking emergency dental care from your dentist. For example, if you’re experiencing severe bleeding, a facial laceration, jaw dislocation or fracture, or another serious health issue.

Fortunately, most dental emergencieseven the ones that require urgent attention, like a knocked-out tooth—don’t require emergency treatment in a hospital emergency room. Our empathetic staff and skilled dentist, Dr. Koch, can treat most dental emergencies in the comfort of our friendly dental office.

If you’re unsure whether you need immediate dental care in our office, please call us so we can discuss your dental problem with you over the phone.
