If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to take better care of your oral health, you might want to start by looking for a good dental insurance plan. Having some kind of coverage can make visits to the dentist in the 45241 area a bit less painful when it comes time to pay the bill.

Here are some ways you can save money—and protect your teeth and gums.

1. Get Insurance Coverage Through Work

If your employer offers dental insurance, it’s a good idea to sign up. Many employers pay for most or all of the premiums, and you can usually get preventive care as part of the plan for a very low cost. When you need treatment, such as fillings or crowns, most plans will enable you to have these done at a discounted rate.

2. Consider a Dental Savings Plan

If your employer doesn’t offer dental insurance, a dental savings plan might be a good bet. Participants in these programs pay an annual fee to get discounted services from dentists who are part of the program.

3. Find Out if You Are Eligible for Veterans Benefits

If you served in the military, you might be able to purchase a policy at a low rate. Check with the Department of Veterans Affairs

4. Ask Your Dentist About an In-House Savings Plan

Another option is to ask your dentist if they offer an in-house dental savings plan. For an annual fee, you will receive preventive care every six months, plus discounts on other services you might need

5. Practice Good Home Care

Nothing will save you more money than not needing dental treatment in the first place. Eat a healthy diet that is low in sugary foods and beverages, and take good care of your teeth by brushing and flossing regularly.
